about

An ancient legend tells of the time when the Indians of the village became very ill and their shaman, Pajé Kampu, had done everything possible to cure them to no avail. He tried all medicinal herbs known, but none helped his people’s agony. In his search, Kampu went into the forest seeking for advice from the spirits. In his journey, he recieved a visit from the grandmother spirit, the great Aya, who brought in her hands a little green frog. She then unveiled to him the sacred medicine hidden in the frog's white secretion, and tought him how to apply it. Upon his return to his tribe, he followed the guidelines he had received and was able to cure his tribe from their afflictions. After his death, it is believed that Kampu's spirit went to live on in the little green frogs, where it continued its mission to protect and heal those who defend the forest.
